About Abdominal Massage

Abdominal massage has been practiced across cultures for centuries — from Maya abdominal therapy in Central America, to Japanese Hara massage, Chi Nei Tsang in China, and unique expressions of abdominal work among the San peoples of Southern Africa.
At Biosis Bodywork, Chi Nei Tsang forms the foundation of every session. A Taoist detox therapy originating in ancient China, it translates directly to “working the energy of the internal organs.” This modality moves stagnant or unprocessed energy, e-motions, blood and lymph — allowing the body’s inherent capacity to harmonise. When Chi (energy) and fluid flow freely, our tissues and organs communicate and function at their fullest capacity. When tissue becomes dense, dehydrated and tight, that flow is restricted — often leading to pain, inflammation, and disease (dis-ease).
Through gentle touch and slow, deep breathing, we encourage life back into the tissues and the body as a whole.
Though the name suggests otherwise, abdominal massage is a full-body modality — physical, emotional, and spiritual. Nothing works in isolation. Working on the abdomen addresses every system in the body: the meridian (Chi) system, the skeletal system, the nervous system, circulation, lymph, digestion, and more.
Chi Nei Tsang can be supportive for:
• General digestive issues — heartburn, constipation, IBS, SIBO
• Hormonal and reproductive imbalances
• Chronic inflammation, pain, and tension
• Anxiety and stress
• Back pain and sciatica
• Abdominal scar tissue from C-section or surgery
• General vitality — Chi Nei Tsang was originally used as a longevity practice, to improve fluid and energy flow and cultivate lasting vitality

Meet Georgia

Hello, I’m Georgia — a devoted mother and massage therapist based in Noordhoek, Cape Town.
In 2022, I came across abdominal massage through my own healing journey. As a teenager I underwent a full spinal fusion due to severe scoliosis, alongside recurring digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, and anxiety. Chi Nei Tsang became a profound catalyst for coming home to my body — unlike anything I’d experienced before.
What I loved most, besides the fact that no one had ever worked on my stomach before and it felt so deeply nurturing, was that I could work on myself. I thought I was fairly connected to my body already, through yoga and breathwork and the initiation of becoming a mother — but learning to tend my own tissues and cultivate a strong sense of introspection took that connection to a whole new level. It has taken me on a deep dive into fascia, lymphatics/fluid flow and breathing mechanics. I also received my Level 1 (Usui) Reiki initiation which is woven into my practice. I’ve healed beliefs of feeling like my body was broken or working against me and made connections about my health and healing that no doctor or practitioner had been able to offer.
This journey taught me that no one can “heal” you — they can only support you on your own path. I see myself as a passionate bodyworker who is here to witness you and assist your magnificent body’s natural capacity to heal.
I would be honoured to hold you.
